KATHMANDU: Authorities have decided to restrict the movement of large cargo vehicles, including trailers, on the Narayanghat-Kathmandu road section to facilitate passenger travel during the Dashain festival. A meeting of stakeholders held at the Department of Transport Management decided that these vehicles will be prohibited on the route from Ghatasthapana to Purnima, spanning from Oct. 11 to Oct. 24.
The department stated that the measure is intended to reduce traffic congestion and potential accidents caused by the high volume of passenger vehicles during the festive period. However, the decision excludes vehicles transporting essential goods such as food items, medicine, and fruits, which will be allowed to operate without restrictions.
