KATHMANDU: Continuous rainfall, floods, and landslides have fully or partially obstructed major highways and secondary roads across Nepal. Due to the heightened risk of natural disasters, authorities have imposed bans on night-time travel in several districts and are advising the use of alternative routes where available.

In Nuwakot, the Tokha-Chhahare road section is closed to all private and public vehicles, except for essential services, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. The Pasang Lhamu Highway in Rasuwa remains fully blocked due to river erosion and flooding. Similar night travel restrictions have been implemented in Bhojpur, Solukhumbu, and Udayapur in Koshi Province, as well as on the Madi Chaur section of the Madan Bhandari Highway in Rolpa.

In Gandaki Province, night travel is prohibited on various rural roads and highways in Manang, Kaski, Mustang, Myagdi, and Parvat. In Bagmati Province, the Narayangadh-Mugling and Prithvi highways are closed indefinitely following multiple landslides. Specifically, heavy debris and boulders have blocked the Prithvi Highway at Krishnabhir and Panidhara in Dhading. Following the closure of the Kanti Lokpath in Makwanpur, authorities have set a specific schedule for the Tribhuvan Rajpath, banning cargo vehicles exceeding 15 tonnes or 10 wheels.

Night-time travel has also been suspended on the BP and Araniko highways in Sindhuli, Kavre, and Sindhupalchok due to landslide risks, with significant blockages reported in Pakucha and other areas of Kavre. Across other regions, the Siddicharan Highway, Kali Gandaki Corridor, Karnali Highway, Mahakali Highway, and Siddhartha Highway are among those blocked by mud and debris. In Dang, the Gwar Khola bridge on the Tulsipur-Ghorahi section is closed due to soil erosion under the structure, and the District Administration Office in Doti has suspended all vehicular movement for 24 hours. Road departments and security agencies are working to clear the obstructions.
