Jhapa traders urged to maintain market discipline during festivals

A A+ A-

JHAPA: The Jhapa Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged local traders to protect consumer rights and maintain market discipline ahead of the upcoming Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath festivals.

The association has directed business owners to display price lists, permanent account numbers (PAN), and business registration certificates in locations easily visible to consumers.

Acting President of the association, Rajkumar Rai, stated that traders have been asked to operate their businesses in a manner that assists consumers during the festive period, given the expected increase in market footfall. He further emphasized the necessity for businesses to strictly adhere to the standards set by the government of Nepal.

Meanwhile, in light of the festive season, the association has temporarily lifted the weekly market holiday system from Sept. 17 to Nov. 15.

During this period, the association has requested that industries, shops, and businesses remain open regularly. The association clarified that the previous weekly closure schedule for industries and businesses will resume after Nov. 15.
