Lumbini provincial government fails to publish monthly budget expenditure details

A A+ A-

BUTWAL: The Lumbini provincial government has failed to publish its monthly budget expenditure details for the current fiscal year 2083/84. Technical issues within the Provincial Treasury and Comptroller Office have prevented the data from being made public through the official website.

While provincial ministries typically release their recurrent and capital expenditure reports on the first day of each month, these records have not been published since the start of the current fiscal year. Other provinces have already released their respective expenditure statements.

Narayan Prasad Paudel, chief of the Provincial Treasury and Comptroller Office, stated that the transition to a new structure following the merger of various ministries has caused difficulties in entering data into the software. While the system continues to pull data from the former ministries, it has struggled to integrate information from the newly restructured departments. Additionally, server downtime in recent days has further hindered the update process.

Paudel noted that the office is in communication with the federal Ministry of Finance to resolve the technical glitches. We are in dialogue with the federal Ministry of Finance regarding this matter, and efforts to fix the software are ongoing, Paudel said. He added that the problem might be resolved within a day or two. He further confirmed that the data will be published on the website only after all details have been fully compiled and verified.
