KATHMANDU: Medical entrepreneur and royalist activist Durga Prasai has been arrested by the police. A team from the Cyber Bureau took him into custody from his residence in Bhaktapur.
Police stated that the arrest follows a complaint filed against Prasai for making objectionable remarks against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Rachna Khatiwada. Prasai had accused Khatiwada, the mother of the late Rasik Khatiwada, of ‘building a parliament on the dead body of her son’.
Lawmaker Khatiwada had formally objected to Prasai’s statement during a parliamentary session, where she became visibly emotional. Reports indicate that the complaint was lodged by Khatiwada’s family members.
Prasai’s son, Nirajan Prasai, confirmed that police officers arrived at their home with an arrest warrant issued by the Cyber Bureau to take his father into custody.
