KATHMANDU: Ncell paid Rs 17.24 billion in taxes and various fees to the government during the last fiscal year 2082/83. As one of the largest taxpayers in the information and communication technology sector, the company released its payment details confirming a total contribution of Rs 17,244,623,881.
According to the company, the payment includes Rs 3.29 billion for the GSM mobile license renewal installment and Rs 270,000 for internet service provider license renewal. Additionally, the company paid Rs 1.01 billion in customs duties, Rs 1.29 billion in royalties, and Rs 1.96 billion in frequency fees.
The company also contributed Rs 2.63 billion in value-added tax on sales and Rs 988.5 million in tax deducted at source. Furthermore, Ncell contributed Rs 649.6 million to the Rural Telecommunication Development Fund. Under government policy, this fund is utilized to expand digital connectivity, strengthen telecommunications infrastructure, and reduce the digital divide between urban and rural communities.
Ncell stated that it has contributed approximately Rs 375 billion in various taxes and fees since its inception. Last Baisakh, the government recognized Ncell as the highest income taxpayer in the information and communication technology sector. Beyond its tax contributions, the company noted that it has spent over Rs 2 billion on corporate social responsibility initiatives through the Ncell Foundation.
