KATHMANDU: Nepal and China have initiated discussions to remove bottlenecks affecting cargo transport and the movement of people at border crossings.
During a field inspection, the Nepali delegation informed the Chinese team about the negative impact these disruptions have had on commercial activities.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs Joint Secretary Ramkaji Khadka emphasized the need to address these issues immediately during talks with representatives from the Chinese Embassy. Khadka urged the Chinese side to submit a positive report on the current status of the border points to the Chinese ambassador and relevant authorities, expressing confidence that this would further strengthen bilateral trade relations.
Previously, discussions were held regarding the management of 57 cargo vehicles. Nepali officials have stressed the need to fully open the border, suggesting that coordination between local customs offices and Chinese authorities could facilitate smoother operations. Both sides have agreed to resolve technical and administrative problems at the border through mutual coordination.
