KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has provided Rs 1 million in compensation to the family of 45-year-old Devi Upreti, who died due to electrocution in Kavrepalanchok.
Upreti, a resident of Bhumlu Rural Municipality-7, Phalate, died on the spot on July 23 after coming into contact with a stay wire used to support an electricity pole in Bhumlu-8, Dandathok Tallotar. The incident occurred while she was on her way to deliver milk to a local market.
Following the incident, an agreement was reached between the District Coordination Committee, the District Administration Office, the Nepal Electricity Authority, and the victim’s family to provide compensation. In accordance with the agreement, the compensation was handed over today. Deepak Sapkota, chief of the NEA’s Panchkhal Distribution Center, confirmed that a cheque for Rs 1 million was handed over to the victim’s family in the presence of local administration officials.
