Nepal increases foreign currency exchange limit for medical treatment abroad

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Rastra Bank has increased the annual foreign currency exchange limit for Nepali citizens seeking medical treatment abroad. Nepali nationals can now access up to 30,000 US dollars for medical expenses.

The central bank announced the policy change through an amendment to its integrated circular. Previously, the annual limit for such exchange facilities was capped at 15,000 US dollars.

Under the revised regulations, banks and financial institutions are permitted to provide up to 30,000 US dollars to Nepali citizens for expenses related to medical treatment at foreign hospitals, including the purchase of necessary medications and medical equipment.

To avail of this facility, applicants must complete the required documentation and follow the prescribed procedures set by financial institutions.
