KATHMANDU: Regular share trading at the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) was suspended on Monday. The suspension follows persistent technical issues at Data Hub Pvt. Ltd., the data center that hosts servers for brokerage companies.
According to NEPSE, the technical problems at the data hub began on the morning of Oct. 20. Despite ongoing efforts to resolve the situation, the issues remained unresolved by Monday. Officials noted that attempting to conduct trading under these conditions posed a risk of causing serious damage to the exchange’s primary trading system.
The Stock Brokers Association of Nepal submitted a written request to NEPSE, urging the exchange to postpone the day’s trading session to mitigate these technical risks. In response to the association’s request and the underlying technical concerns, NEPSE decided to suspend Monday’s operations in accordance with Rule 21 (1) of the Securities Listing and Trading Regulations, 2075 BS.
