Nepal stock market rises by 22.85 points with Rs 6.74 billion turnover

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index saw a double-digit gain on Friday, the final trading day of the week. The benchmark index rose by 22.85 points to close at 2,647.22 points.

Alongside the main index, the sensitive index, which tracks the performance of large companies, increased by 5.32 points. The float index and sensitive float index also saw gains of 1.87 points and 1.90 points, respectively. Market turnover witnessed a significant improvement, rising to Rs 6.74 billion from Rs 5.49 billion recorded on Thursday. A total of 21.27 million shares from 345 companies were traded across 64,072 transactions.

Out of the 13 sub-groups, 11 recorded gains while two declined. The banking sub-group led the market with a 1.59 percent increase, followed by the life insurance sub-group, which rose by approximately 1.5 percent. Conversely, the finance and other sub-groups saw marginal declines.

Among individual stocks, Snow Rivers Limited saw its share price surge by 13.66 percent. Infinity Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha and Mailung Khola Jalvidhyut Company also posted gains of approximately 10 percent and 9 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, Hathaway Investment experienced a decline of 15 percent in its share value. In terms of turnover, Kumari Bank led the market with Rs 321.3 million in transactions, followed by Laxmi Sunrise Bank with over Rs 270 million and Global IME Bank with over Rs 230 million.
