KATHMANDU: Nepal Telecom has urged the public to disregard misleading media reports regarding its 30 Mbps internet package, stating that information circulating about the package’s pricing and regulatory approval is inaccurate.

In a press statement, Nepal Telecom spokesperson Dr. Kamal Lamichhane clarified that reports published in some media outlets regarding the Rs 4,999 annual internet package do not reflect the facts. The company stated that these misleading reports were based on a press release issued by the Nepal Telecommunications Authority on Oct. 16 concerning the terms of licenses held by internet service providers.

Nepal Telecom emphasized that it has been in regular communication with the regulatory authority regarding the approval of its service packages. The company clarified that the 30 Mbps package was introduced as a student offer and the authority had been duly informed about it. The telecom operator reiterated that it remains committed to operating within the legal framework and policies approved by the Government of Nepal, ensuring full compliance with existing regulations.
