KATHMANDU: Nepal’s national cricket team will compete in the NT Top End T20 Series in Australia’s Northern Territory later this month, with the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) releasing the tournament schedule. However, CAN has yet to announce the squad for the competition.
Nepal, which also participated in last year’s edition, won two of its six matches while losing the remaining four.
The tournament will be held in Darwin from August 21 to 30, where Nepal will play six league-stage matches. Nepal opens its campaign against NT Strike on August 21, followed by fixtures against the Bangladesh High Performance Team (August 22), Hobart Hurricanes Academy (August 24), ACT Comets (August 25), Kingsmen (August 27), and Victoria (August 29).
The tournament schedule overlaps with the ACC Premier Cup, raising the possibility that Nepal could field separate squads for the two competitions.
ICC announces Global Qualifier schedule
Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that the 10-team Global Qualifier will be held from February 22 to March 23, 2027. The host venue has yet to be announced.
Nepal has already secured its place in the tournament after failing to finish among the top four teams in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2, making the Global Qualifier its pathway to the World Cup.
The qualifiers will also feature Ireland and the West Indies, currently ranked 11th and 12th in the ICC rankings, alongside eight other competing nations.
