Nepali Army wins gold medal at Cambrian Patrol in Uk

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Army has secured a gold medal at the international military exercise ‘Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2026’ held in the United Kingdom. The competition took place in Brecon, Wales, from Oct. 7 to 8, according to the military headquarters.

A total of 130 teams from 35 nations participated in the event. The medals were awarded in the presence of Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel, who is currently on an official visit to the United Kingdom. The Nepali Army has been participating in the exercise, which has been held annually since 1960, since 2014.

During the patrol, participating teams are required to cover a distance of 40 miles within two days while carrying equipment weighing approximately 70 pounds. The exercise tests various military skills, including weapon handling, intelligence gathering, and the management of injured or sick personnel. The Nepali Army previously won gold medals in this competition in 2017, 2019, 2024, and 2025.
