KATHMANDU: The Nepal stock market witnessed a minor decline on Tuesday, with the benchmark NEPSE index closing at 2603.71 points, down by 9.62 points.
The market experienced volatility throughout the trading session. After a brief rise in the early hours, the index dipped toward the 2590-point mark. Despite attempts at a recovery toward the end of the day, the market closed in the red.
Most sub-indices ended the day lower. The manufacturing and processing sector recorded the largest decline, falling by 54.52 points. Other sectors including banking, development bank, finance, hotels and tourism, hydropower, investment, life insurance, and microfinance also saw their indices drop. Conversely, the non-life insurance and other sectors registered a modest gain of 2.19 points.
In total, the share prices of 69 companies increased, while 199 companies saw their values decline. The share prices of 10 companies remained unchanged. Among the gainers, the debenture price of ICFC Finance rose by 9.18 percent. In terms of transaction volume, Himalayan Distillery led the market, recording over Rs 229.9 million in trades. The total turnover for the day stood at Rs 4.65 billion.
