NEPSE rises 9.24 points to close at 2,522.66

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index gained 9.24 points to close at 2,522.66 points on Tuesday, extending the market’s upward momentum, although overall trading turnover declined compared with the previous session.

The benchmark index had also risen 9.24 points on Monday to close at 2,522.66 points. On Tuesday, shares worth Rs 2.906 billion were traded, down from Rs 3.648 billion on Monday.

Market gains were broad-based, with 12 of the 13 sub-groups posting increases, while only one sub-group recorded a decline.

Among individual companies, Upper Mailun Khola Hydropower Company posted the biggest gain of the session, with its share price rising 7.15 percent. MBL Equity Fund gained around 6 percent, while Emerging Nepal advanced approximately 5 percent.

On the losing side, Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, which began trading on Tuesday, recorded the steepest decline, with its share price falling 8.48 percent.

In terms of turnover, Solu Hydropower led the market with shares worth Rs 138.2 million traded. Shivam Cements followed with turnover exceeding Rs 135 million.
