NEPSE rises to 2654 with over Rs 7 billion turnover

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index continued its upward trend for the third consecutive trading session. On Tuesday, the first trading day of the week, the index rose by 7.06 points to close at 2654.28 points.

Market turnover also saw a significant improvement compared to the previous session. While Rs 6.74 billion worth of shares were traded previously, the total turnover on Tuesday reached Rs 7.05 billion. A total of 356 companies saw 21.59 million shares traded across 70,691 transactions.

Mid Solu Hydropower led the gainers after announcing a 15 percent bonus share, with its stock price hitting the positive circuit level. The company’s share price increased by Rs 79 to reach Rs 606. First Microfinance Laghubitta saw its share price rise by nearly 8 percent, while Mailung Khola Hydropower shares gained over 5.5 percent. Conversely, shareholders of Snow Rivers faced the highest loss, with the stock price dropping by 8.23 percent.

In terms of turnover, Hathaway Investment Nepal topped the list with Rs 444 million worth of shares traded. Himalayan Distillery followed with approximately Rs 405 million, and Ghaleemdi Hydro recorded a turnover of over Rs 220 million.

Out of the 13 sub-indices, seven recorded gains while six declined. The ‘others’ sub-index performed the best, rising by 1.36 percent. Banking, development bank, hotel and tourism, investment, life insurance, and microfinance sub-indices also saw minor gains during the day’s trading.
