KATHMANDU: Nighttime traffic has been suspended on the Kanti Lokpath, which connects Kathmandu via Makwanpur, for two days due to the risk of floods and landslides caused by heavy rainfall. The District Administration Office, Makwanpur, has prohibited vehicle movement on the route from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. for Oct. 29 and Oct. 30.
Assistant Chief District Officer Sheshakanta Paudel stated that the region has been experiencing continuous rainfall since Thursday, influenced by the Arnab cyclone developing in the Bay of Bengal. The persistent weather has significantly increased the risk of landslides and flooding along the highway.
The administration implemented the restriction to minimize potential loss of life and property. Assistant Chief District Officer Paudel has urged all commuters and transport operators to avoid traveling on the Kanti Lokpath during the designated hours.
