KATHMANDU: The match between the Lumbini Lions and the Chitwan Rhinos, scheduled for today as part of the third edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), has been cancelled.
According to Secretary of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Paras Khadka, the match was called off because the ground was rendered unfit for play due to persistent rain.
The Tribhuvan International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, the venue for IPL matches, has become completely waterlogged following rainfall that is taking place continuously for the past three day.
With the match cancelled, Chitwan and Lumbini have shared one point each. The second match of the day is scheduled to feature Biratnagar Kings against the Sudurpaschim Royals. This match is set to begin at 5:00 PM and is also likely to be affected by the waterlogged ground.
The third edition of NPL , a franchise-based Twenty20 cricket tournament, began this year on October 26 and is scheduled to continue until November 25.
