Over 49,000 passengers leave Kathmandu valley in last 24 hours

KATHMANDU: The number of passengers leaving the Kathmandu valley continues to rise as the festive season approaches. According to data from the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, 49,264 passengers departed from the valley in the last 24 hours, with 7,631 vehicles recorded leaving on Oct. 7.

Information Officer and Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi stated that on Oct. 6, 49,476 passengers left the valley in 7,758 vehicles. Data from preceding days shows consistent traffic flow: on Oct. 5, 47,526 passengers used 8,954 vehicles to exit, while on Oct. 4, 40,869 passengers departed in 6,522 vehicles.

Traffic records further indicate that 54,143 passengers exited in 7,997 vehicles on Oct. 3. On Oct. 2, 45,139 passengers left in 7,315 vehicles, and on Oct. 1, 42,620 passengers departed using 7,591 vehicles.

Superintendent Subedi noted that the movement of passengers and vehicles has increased significantly due to the upcoming festivals. He added that traffic management measures are being implemented to handle the rising volume of travelers.
