KATHMANDU: The Private and Boarding Schools’ Organization Nepal (PABSON) has contributed Rs 208.9 million for the relief and rehabilitation of flood victims in the Bhotekoshi-Trishuli corridor. The organization announced the support during a press conference held in Kathmandu on Thursday.
PABSON President Krishna Prasad Adhikari expressed his condolences over the loss of life and property caused by the floods. He urged the government to leave no stone unturned in the search and rescue operations for those missing. PABSON initiated a fundraising campaign on Aug. 27, involving member schools, teachers, staff, students, parents, and well-wishers across the country.
According to Adhikari, out of the total funds raised, Rs 120 million was handed over to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund through Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle, and Rs 33.9 million was transferred through Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel. Additionally, PABSON member schools have directly deposited Rs 35 million into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
Adhikari also stated that Rs 20 million has been allocated for the reconstruction of three schools that suffered complete damage and two schools that were partially damaged in the flood-affected areas. He reiterated PABSON’s commitment to providing necessary educational support to ensure the continuation of learning for children affected by the disaster.
