KATHMANDU: Passport services in Kathmandu have been disrupted following a fire that broke out in a bus near the Department of Passports in Tripureshwor.
The fire caused significant damage to local infrastructure, leading to a disruption in electricity and internet services in the area.
According to the department, the outage has affected the main server and technical systems, directly hindering the passport printing process. This technical failure has made it difficult to distribute passports that were either ready or currently in the printing stage.
The department issued a notice on Monday clarifying that while printing and distribution services are currently facing delays, the collection of new passport applications continues to operate as scheduled. Authorities are working to restore the power and internet connectivity as quickly as possible.
