KATHMANDU: The Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund currently holds over Rs 13.58 billion. According to the Ministry of Finance, a significant portion of these funds was collected following the Bhotekoshi floods.
Ministry data shows that Rs 8.92 billion was collected specifically after the floods. Additionally, the fund received USD 22.85 million in donations, which is equivalent to approximately Rs 3.57 billion.
As of 9 a.m. Monday, the total balance in the fund stood at Rs 13.58 billion. Before the floods, the fund’s Nepali currency account held Rs 2.08 billion. The dollar account, which held USD 586,048 prior to the disaster, also saw a substantial increase in contributions.
The ministry confirmed that Rs 1 billion was transferred from the relief fund to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority on Aug. 31.
