POKHARA: The Indian Ex-Servicemen Gorkha Brigade in Pokhara has donated over Rs 2.4 million to support relief and rehabilitation efforts for victims of the floods and disasters that struck the Rasuwa-Bhotekoshi region on Aug. 26.
The fundraising campaign was coordinated by Colonel Krishna Bahadur Khatri, president of the Indian Ex-Servicemen Gorkha Brigade in Pokhara. The group handed over a total of Rs 2,433,952 to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund on Tuesday. Following the transfer, the details of the contribution were submitted to the Kaski District Administration Office.
Colonel Khatri stated that Indian ex-servicemen remain committed to working alongside the government and the public during times of national crisis. Expressing his hope that the contribution would aid the recovery of those affected, he said, “We, the Indian ex-servicemen, are always ready to unite and provide support when the country faces difficulties. Our goal is for this small contribution to help heal the wounds of the disaster-affected citizens.”
Khatri further noted that through ongoing relief campaigns, Indian ex-servicemen across Nepal have contributed more than Rs 20 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to date.
