KATHMANDU: Pokhara recorded the highest rainfall in the country over the last 24 hours, with 95.2 millimeters of precipitation, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. Okhaldhunga in Koshi Province followed as the second wettest location, recording 84.6 millimeters of rainfall. The impact of the current weather system has been more pronounced across the central and eastern hilly regions.
Other notable rainfall measurements include 52.3 millimeters in Dhankuta and 49.2 millimeters in Taplejung. In the central and Terai regions, Simara recorded 37.6 millimeters, Janakpur 33.9 millimeters, and Chandragadhi in Jhapa 30.5 millimeters. The federal capital, Kathmandu, recorded 29.8 millimeters of rainfall. Additional data shows 23.7 millimeters in Biratnagar, 23.2 millimeters in Lumle, 18.6 millimeters in Bhairahawa, 18.2 millimeters in Dharan, 12.4 millimeters in Jiri, 10.9 millimeters in Ghorahi, 3.5 millimeters in Jomsom, and 2.4 millimeters in Jumla.
Rainfall remained significantly lower in the western and far-western regions compared to the central and eastern parts of the country. Nepalgunj recorded 1.9 millimeters, Dhangadhi 1.2 millimeters, and Dadeldhura 0.1 millimeters. Rainfall in Birendranagar was negligible, while Dipayal recorded zero rainfall. The change in weather patterns and the associated rainfall have led to a drop in temperatures across high-altitude and mountainous areas. The minimum temperature in Jumla has dropped to 7.8 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature in Dipayal was recorded at 33.0 degrees Celsius.
