KATHMANDU: Police have arrested 13 individuals for gambling across separate locations in Sankhuwasabha and Dhankuta districts. Authorities seized over Rs 200,000 in cash and playing cards during the operations conducted on Sunday.
In Sankhuwasabha, police arrested five people, including 59-year-old Man Bahadur Tiwari, at his residence in Khandbari Municipality-8, Zero Point. A team from the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, recovered Rs 89,830 in cash and one deck of cards from the scene during the afternoon operation.
Separately, in Dhankuta, police arrested eight individuals, including 52-year-old Mohan Bahadur BK, in Hile, Dhankuta Municipality-1, on Sunday night. A team from the District Police Office, Dhankuta, seized Rs 114,550 in cash and four decks of cards during the raid. Police confirmed that further investigations into the activities of all those arrested are currently underway.
