KATHMANDU: Police have arrested 16 individuals across six districts for the possession of illegal drugs. The suspects were taken into custody during separate operations conducted on Sunday in Dhanusha, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Makwanpur, and Parsa.
In Jhapa, authorities arrested 23-year-old Suresh Uraw with 2.97 grams of suspected brown sugar in Mechinagar, along with Pramod Shah and Raj Bishta, who were found with 10.2 grams of the same substance in Arjunadhara. A motorcycle was also seized during the operation. In Makwanpur, police arrested Rohan Singh, Suraj Sah, Sharan Karki, Milan Syangbo, and Dip Lama after finding varying quantities of suspected heroin in their possession across Hetauda.
Morang police arrested Yogesh Limbu with 192 tablets of Tramadol and 185 tablets of Dicyclomine. Additionally, Raju Bishwakarma was apprehended in Biratnagar with 6.51 grams of suspected heroin and 60 tablets of Nitravet. In Parsa, 65-year-old Indian national Pret Raya was arrested with approximately 500 grams of marijuana in Bindabasini. Dhanusha police arrested Ajay Kumar Mandal with 14.4 grams of suspected heroin while he was traveling on a motorcycle.
In Sunsari, Pujan Shrestha was arrested with 1.13 grams of suspected brown sugar in Dharan, while Suraj Majhi, Toran Majhi, and Manish Majhi were apprehended in Inaruwa with 5.49 grams of the same substance. Authorities confirmed that all suspects are currently in police custody for further investigation.
