KATHMANDU: Police have arrested 18 individuals from various locations across the country over the past 24 hours for possession of illegal narcotics. Law enforcement teams conducted multiple operations leading to these arrests.
In Kathmandu, 19-year-old Dwang Sonam Sherpa was arrested in Gokarneshwor-9 with 259 tablets of Tramadol. In Lalitpur, Ravi Khadka and one other person were taken into custody in Mahalaxmi-5 with 10 tablets of Spaspen and 4 tablets of Tramadol.
In Morang, police apprehended 33-year-old Yogen Magar with 1.18 grams of a substance resembling brown heroin, and 31-year-old Dhiren Magar with 810 milligrams of the same substance. In Sunsari, Anis Shrestha was arrested with 1.52 grams of a substance resembling brown sugar and Rs 4,500 in cash. Additionally, Anish Shakya and one other individual were arrested in Dharan with 460 milligrams of a substance resembling brown sugar.
Operations in Jhapa led to the arrest of Firod Alam with 25.15 grams of a substance resembling brown sugar, along with three others found with 4.67 grams of the same substance. In Bardiya, Arjun Mahat and Nakul Shahi were arrested in Badhaiyatal with 5 grams of a substance resembling brown sugar.
In Kailali, Suresh Rana was arrested in Dhangadhi with 1.045 grams of a substance resembling brown sugar. In Bhajani, police arrested Bishal Bista, Ram Bahadur Shahi, and Bigyan Bhandari with 780 milligrams of a substance resembling brown sugar. Police stated that further investigations into the arrested individuals are ongoing.
