KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has arrested 23 individuals from various districts across the country on charges of possessing illegal narcotics.
The arrests were made in Nawalparasi West, Banke, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Sunsari, Morang, Bara, and Makwanpur, where authorities seized quantities of marijuana, brown sugar, heroin, cash, and vehicles.
In Kanchanpur, police apprehended two individuals with 7.19 grams of heroin in Krishnapur and one person with 2.67 grams in Beldandi. In Makwanpur, two people were arrested in Hetauda with 90 milligrams of heroin, while one person was taken into custody in Bara’s Jitpursimara with 1.35 grams of brown sugar.
Authorities in Morang arrested two individuals with 195 milligrams of brown sugar in Ratuwamai. In Nawalparasi West, police seized approximately 57.6 kilograms of marijuana from a residence in Pratappur, leading to the arrest of one woman. In Sunsari, police arrested one person in Dharan with 5.27 grams of brown sugar and two others in Itahari with 320 milligrams of heroin.
Further operations in Kailali resulted in the arrest of five individuals in Dhangadhi with 400 milligrams of brown sugar. In Banke, police apprehended six people in Nepalgunj with 3.45 grams of brown sugar and Rs 7,230 in cash. Local police offices are conducting further investigations into the cases.
