KATHMANDU: Police have taken 77 individuals into custody over suspicions of potential involvement in illicit or criminal activities during the Haritalika Teej festival.
Authorities stated that the arrests were made following an analysis of past incidents, targeting individuals suspected of potentially engaging in theft, robbery, or harassment of women. The individuals are currently under further investigation, according to the police.
On the occasion of Teej today, approximately 45,000 devotees offered prayers at the Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu. Police reported that the festival concluded peacefully throughout the day with no untoward incidents recorded.
