KATHMANDU: Efforts are underway to restore electricity in various areas of Pyuthan, Rolpa, and Rukum East following power supply disruptions. The 33 kV transmission line from Arghakhanchi to Pyuthan is expected to be operational by 7 p.m. today after repairs, which will restore power to the district headquarters and surrounding areas.
Technicians are currently working to restring the conductor on the Lamahi-Jhimruk 132 kV line in Murkuti, Dang. Despite challenges posed by rainfall, the goal is to bring this line into operation by 10 p.m. tonight. Once restored, this is expected to normalize power supply in Pyuthan and the eastern parts of Rolpa, including the district headquarters, Libang.
In Holeri, western Rolpa, technical teams have been deployed since this morning. Initial inspections revealed that five spans of conductors have collapsed along with poles, and trees have damaged lines in four other locations. Repairs are ongoing, with a target to restore service by tomorrow. Meanwhile, the power line to Thawang, Rolpa, has sustained significant damage. Access issues have delayed technicians, and the full extent of the damage remains unverified.
In Rukum East, the line originating from Salyan is disrupted, with reports suggesting that landslides have washed away several poles. Repair work is underway with the aim of restoring service by tomorrow. Currently, Rukumkot, the headquarters of Rukum East, is receiving power from the local Rapti Hydro. Although infrastructure damage has caused delays, technical teams are deployed across the affected regions to restore power in a phased manner.
