KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party (NCP) coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has warned of launching street protests against the government immediately after the Dashain and Tihar festivals.
He made the remarks while addressing a central committee meeting of the All Nepal Peasants’ Federation in Kathmandu on Friday.
Dahal accused the current administration of suppressing squatters, laborers, farmers, students, and trade unions. He stated, ‘The so-called new government has begun suppressing squatters, laborers, farmers, students, intellectuals, and trade union activists, committing excesses and atrocities against them.’
He informed that efforts are underway to unite opposition parties against the government’s actions and working style. According to Dahal, preparations are being made to form a broad joint front to launch a powerful movement after evaluating the country’s situation following the festivals. He added, ‘Depending on the country’s situation after the festivals, we must create a new initiative, a new resistance, and a new movement against the counter-revolutionary conspiracy.’
Claiming that public perception regarding the government is shifting, he asserted that interest in established political parties and leaders is growing. ‘The confusion created by the so-called new government is clearing up. The illusions are being shattered, and the public’s attraction toward established parties, leaders, and their agendas is increasing day by day,’ he said.
Dahal claimed that he has observed increasing support for the Nepal Communist Party in Madhesh, Bagmati, and other regions across the country. He further accused the current government of being completely unable to address the fundamental problems of citizens or work in their best interest.
