KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel has extended his best wishes to all Nepalis at home and abroad on the occasion of the Haritalika Teej festival and National Children’s Day 2083. In a message issued by the Office of the President, he expressed his wishes for happiness, peace, and prosperity for all citizens.
President Paudel noted that the Teej festival serves as a symbol of cultural and social solidarity among Nepali women. He expressed his belief that the festival would provide the enthusiasm needed to build a civilized and equitable society by ending all forms of discrimination, violence, and injustice against women. He further emphasized the importance of preserving the originality of the festival while remaining cautious against extravagant and expensive practices, urging that the true essence of the festival be maintained for those with limited income.
In a separate message issued for National Children’s Day 2083, President Paudel stated that it is the responsibility of all stakeholders to prevent all forms of inhumane treatment, violence, and abuse against children. Recalling that the Constitution of Nepal guarantees children’s rights as fundamental rights, he emphasized that an integrated role from the state, civil society, and parents is essential to ensure creative, practical, free, and quality education, nutritious food, safe drinking water, and a child-friendly environment.
