KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel is scheduled to attend the special Indra Jatra celebrations at Basantapur today at 3 p.m. The Office of the President confirmed that First Lady Sabita Paudel will accompany him to the event.
President Paudel will walk from the Juddha statue to the Gaddi Baithak at Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square to observe the festival. Acting Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Sunita Dangol, will welcome the President and the First Lady upon their arrival.
During the ceremony, the President will offer traditional offerings to the chariots of Sri Ganesh, Sri Bhairav, and Sri Kumari, granting formal permission for the procession to proceed. The festival, which begins annually with the hoisting of the Indra Dhwoja at Hanuman Dhoka on the day of Bhadra Shukla Dwadashi, is being celebrated today as its main day.
