KATHMANDU: The prime minister is scheduled to address the high-level session of the United Nations General Assembly on Friday morning.
According to the prime minister’s secretariat, the session is set to commence at 3:00 p.m. local time on Thursday in New York. Due to the 9-hour and 15-minute time difference between New York and Nepal, the address is expected to take place between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on Friday, Nepal time.
The secretariat noted that as there is a long list of heads of state and government scheduled to speak, the timing of Nepal’s address may shift slightly depending on the duration of previous speeches. Prior to the address, the prime minister is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
In the address, the prime minister will prioritize issues including Nepal’s peace process, progress in achieving sustainable development goals, the roadmap for graduation from the least developed country status, and the disasters caused by climate change in Nepal alongside compensation matters. The speech will be broadcast live via the official United Nations Web TV.
