KATHMANDU: The Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund has received an additional 230 million rupees over the past 24 hours. According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the fund increased by 227.5 million rupees on Thursday compared to Wednesday.
As of Thursday evening, the total balance across nine banks reached 10.89 billion rupees. Additionally, two dollar accounts held in banks contain 23.93 million US dollars. The office stated that the total combined balance across all accounts is 14.56 billion rupees.
From the collected funds, one billion rupees has already been disbursed through the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority to assist victims affected by floods in the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa. The government has also decided to provide monthly financial support to flood-affected families in Rasuwa for housing rent and other essential expenses. Under this scheme, families with up to four members will receive 15,000 rupees monthly, with an additional 2,000 rupees provided for each extra member.
