KATHMANDU: The Prithvi Highway will be closed from 11pm today until 5am tomorrow for facilitating the road repair works at Galaundi area of the highway in Dhading.
Laxmi Pandey (Gautam), the Chief District Officer of Dhading, announced today that traffic on the highway has been closed to repair the road that was damaged due to the Trishuli River erosion in Galaundi area of Gajuri Rural Municipality-5.
The road was blocked when the highway collapsed on October 9. After efforts throughout the day on October 10, the highway was reopened, but it is going to be closed tonight for further maintenance.
It is said problem has arisen in traffic management because of the disruption of the national highway during Dashain festival time. Punya Prasad (Saroj) Sitoula, the national president of the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE), said that the highway closure during Dashain has created challenges for transport.
“Thousands of travelers have booked tickets in advance for Dashain, and in such a situation, when the highway is closed, both transport operators and regular passengers are facing problems,” he said.
A total of 207 thousand 251 passengers have left Kathmandu Valley for various destinations across the country between October 3 and 11from the New Bus Park in connection with Dashain festival celebration.
