Rabi Lamichhane appears at Kathmandu District Court for hearing

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane appeared at the Kathmandu District Court on Friday afternoon. He arrived at the court premises in Babarmahal to attend a scheduled hearing regarding his ongoing cooperative fraud case.

Lamichhane faces allegations of misappropriating funds from the Kalimati-based Swarnalaxmi Cooperative to Gorkha Media. On Jan. 16, 2025, the Kathmandu District Court had ordered him to pay a bail amount of Rs 6 million to be released. He deposited the required bail on the same day.

The former minister is currently facing legal proceedings in multiple districts across the country related to cooperative fund embezzlement. Prior to the Kathmandu court order, the Kaski District Court had set his bail at Rs 6.5 million. Additionally, the Rupandehi District Court demanded a bail of Rs 10 million, while the Chitwan District Court set the amount at Rs 5.4 million.
