KATHMANDU: The Confederation of Banks and Financial Institutions Nepal (CBFIN) has appointed senior vice president Rajesh Upadhyay as its acting chairman. The position became vacant following the resignation of former chairman Prachanda Bahadur Shrestha from his role as chairman of the board of directors of Himalayan Bank.
A meeting of the CBFIN executive committee held on Sept. 10 decided unanimously to entrust Upadhyay with the leadership responsibilities until a new committee is elected at the upcoming annual general meeting.
Upadhyay currently serves as the chairman of Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank. He has been active in Nepal’s banking, insurance, and financial sectors for approximately 25 years. Having contributed to the strengthening of CBFIN since its inception, it is expected that his extensive experience will make the organization’s future operations more results-oriented.
The organization anticipates that under Upadhyay’s leadership, CBFIN will effectively address the policy and practical challenges currently facing the banking sector. There is a strong belief that his vision will help enhance the stability, credibility, and sustainable development of the banking industry during this challenging economic period.
