Rastriya Swatantra Party leaders are trained by Congress: Gagan Thapa

A A+ A-

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has claimed that many leaders and lawmakers within the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) are products of the Nepali Congress’s political training. Speaking at an event held at Khulamanch in Kathmandu on Sunday, Thapa responded to recent remarks made by RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane regarding voter shifts.

Thapa asserted that a significant portion of the RSP leadership, including its vice-chairman, previously participated in Congress events and supported the party. ‘If you look from the RSP vice-chairman downwards, there are many people who were clapping on the Congress stage yesterday,’ Thapa said, suggesting that these individuals carry the political culture and training they received while associated with the Congress.

Addressing Lamichhane’s claim that Congress voters had supported the RSP, Thapa stated that the Congress does not need to be overly concerned about the matter. He emphasized that the Congress has consistently invested in training its members, many of whom have now transitioned to other political platforms.

‘We have not only sent voters but if you look inside the parliament, we have trained and sent 40 to 50 colleagues,’ Thapa remarked, adding that the party had instilled positive values in these individuals before they moved on.
