KATHMANDU: The Nepal Telecommunications Authority has revoked the operating license of United Telecom Limited (UTL), which has remained inactive for nearly a decade. The decision was confirmed following a recent board meeting of the regulatory body.

NTA spokesperson Min Prasad Aryal stated that the license was cancelled after it was determined that the company was no longer providing services and had no active customers. In addition to the license revocation, the authority has ordered the freezing of all movable and immovable assets belonging to the company.

The regulator plans to initiate an auction process for the seized assets to recover outstanding dues in accordance with government regulations. Regarding the decision, Aryal said, ‘As UTL is not currently providing services and has no customers, the board has decided to revoke the license, freeze its movable and immovable assets, and recover dues as government arrears. We will release further information soon.’
