KATHMANDU: The government has initiated repairs on 12 suspension bridges damaged in the flood-affected areas.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, repair work has already commenced on damaged suspension bridges located at Kalikasthan, Malinga, Majhuwatar Dobhan, Mahadeva Master, Chiraundi Khola, Sheetalbazar Kyurenitar, and Belkhu Bhutiya in Dhading.
Similarly, the suspension bridges connecting Nuwakot and Dhading—specifically Keureni Gahate, Pimaltar Jagaram, Kotpu Kalleri, Phosretar, and Philing—as well as the Badare suspension bridge connecting Gorkha and Dhading are being repaired to bring them back to operation. The Ministry stated that work is proceeding with the aim of bringing these bridges back into operation by September 6.
Additionally, necessary technical and administrative preparations are underway for the repair of eight other flood-affected suspension bridges.
Furthermore, the Ministry noted that a tender was announced on September 2 for the reconstruction of 33 suspension bridges that were completely destroyed.
