KATHMANDU: Rescue operations inside the tunnel of the Trishuli 3A Hydropower Project will continue overnight despite ongoing heavy rainfall, according to official updates. Technical teams and heavy equipment have been fully mobilized at the site to clear obstacles and maintain the momentum of the rescue effort without interruption.
Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker and energy expert Shreeram Neupane confirmed that adverse weather conditions would not stop the rescue work inside the tunnel. Neupane explained that although continuous rain fell throughout the day, a structured operational plan has been prepared to deploy three heavy excavators during the night shift to keep the clearing process moving forward without stopping.
The primary focus of the night shift is to remove sludge, mud, and severe blockages that have gathered within the tunnel passage. Technical crews are working to clear these heavy obstructions in order to create a pathway through the tunnel toward the project powerhouse, where individuals remain trapped inside.
Authorities emphasized that both technical personnel and machinery are fully deployed to execute the rescue plan. The mobilization aims to ensure that the clearing of debris proceeds smoothly despite the unfavorable weather. Rescue operations will continue into the night, focusing on overcoming the mud accumulation and reaching the powerhouse safely.
