MUSTANG: Heavy rainfall and snowfall have disrupted road, electricity and internet services across the mountain district of Mustang. The damage caused by landslides and flooding has significantly impacted daily life in the region.
The District Administration Office in Mustang stated that it is coordinating with relevant authorities to restore services as quickly as possible. Chief District Officer Ajita Sharma explained that the power outage was caused by a fault in the transmission line coming from Myagdi. She confirmed that authorities are working on repairs, with expectations that electricity will be restored within the day.
While mobile network connectivity has shown some signs of improvement, internet services remain completely suspended. Regarding road infrastructure, Sharma noted that landslides have damaged roads in areas including Lete, Samar Khola and Ghami. Efforts to clear the debris are underway in coordination with the road division office. While the route below Lete has been cleared, work continues on the remaining sections to restore connectivity, including the road leading to Upper Mustang.
Meanwhile, snow has begun to melt near the northern Korala border point. The administration is currently assessing the road conditions and potential safety risks before allowing stranded containers and vehicles to proceed. Sharma emphasized that because the road remains saturated, travel will only be permitted once the authorities determine it is safe to do so.
