KATHMANDU: Minister for Information and Communications, Dr Bikram Timilsina, has lauded the contribution of the literary journalism sector to the promotion, preservation, development and advancement of language, literature, culture and art in the country.
During a meeting with representatives of Nepal Literary Journalists Association at the Ministry on Tuesday, Minister Dr Timilsina mentioned that literary journalism has been the crucial medium to pass languages, cultures, arts and literature of the society to the new generation by preserving them.
He underlined that newspapers published in different languages make it easier to understand situation of language, culture and society of the concerned communities.
On the occasion, the Literary Journalists Association office-bearers suggested the government to make separate criteria for literary, cultural, artistic and mother language newspapers, to incorporate literary online portals within classification criteria, among others.
The Association stressed the need of cooperation between the state and concerned sector for development and promotion of literary journalism.
