KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has directed the government to further intensify search, rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts following the floods in the Bhote-koshi region.

The party’s secretariat meeting, held at its central office in Chha-mati on Sunday, urged the government to ensure no gaps remain in the response operations.

RSP spokesperson Jagadish Kharel stated that government representatives briefed the secretariat on the ongoing disaster response. According to the briefing, rescue and relief operations are being conducted effectively, with reconstruction and rehabilitation work proceeding in parallel.

The party emphasized the need for immediate DNA testing of unidentified bodies to facilitate the distribution of relief to the affected families. ‘The main focus is that DNA testing for unidentified bodies must be completed as quickly as possible so that relief can be provided to the victims’ families,’ Kharel said.

The secretariat further concluded that the status of missing individuals must be determined urgently. The party suggested that if any legal hurdles exist, the government should establish necessary provisions to facilitate the process with the consent of the families. Additionally, the meeting decided to resume all RSP organizational activities that had been suspended following the Bhote-koshi floods on Aug. 26.
