RAJBIRAJ: The District Administration Office in Saptari has requested the Ministry of Health and Population of Madhesh Province to investigate the deaths of two women who underwent childbirth at Dharmeshwor Hospital Pvt Ltd in Kanchanrup Municipality-12.
In a letter signed by Chief District Officer Shyam Krishna Thapa, the administration has urged the ministry to examine the hospital’s infrastructure, the availability of specialized medical personnel, and whether it holds the necessary permits to perform complex surgical procedures. The inquiry follows concerns regarding whether the facility meets the standards required for maternity and surgical services.
According to the administration, 28-year-old Nirmala Chaudhary from Agnisair Krishnasavaran Rural Municipality-5 was admitted to the hospital on Oct. 1 for labor. After undergoing a cesarean section, her condition deteriorated, and she was referred to another medical facility, where she died on Oct. 4.
Similarly, 28-year-old Pushpa Khadka from Saptakoshi Municipality-11 was admitted to the same hospital on Aug. 16 due to labor complications. Following a surgical delivery, her health condition worsened, and she was referred for further treatment elsewhere, where she passed away on the same day.
The district administration has requested a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of both deaths and to assess whether the hospital’s medical practices and service standards were in compliance with regulations.
