KATHMANDU: Minister for Youth, Labour and Employment Ramji Yadav has announced that contracts for the construction of three dilapidated roads in Saptari will be awarded within a week to resume stalled projects.
During his visit to his home district, Minister Yadav addressed local concerns regarding the Rajbiraj-Chhinnamasta, Rajbiraj-Rupani and Rajbiraj-Hanumannagar-Bhardaha road sections.
The three road projects were previously contracted for Rs 730 million. However, the contracts were cancelled after only Rs 300 million worth of work was completed over a five-year period. Minister Yadav stated that the government is now preparing to initiate new tender processes to complete the remaining work. He added that the new agreements will include a mandatory provision to finish construction within 18 months.
With the festive season approaching, the minister said that arrangements will be made to spray prime on the roads to control dust and facilitate easier movement for the public. The prospect of resuming construction has brought hope to the local community. Local resident Sushila Yadav expressed optimism that the upcoming tender process would finally lead to the completion of the long-delayed road projects.
