KATHMANDU: A truck driver died in an accident in Byas Municipality-12, Kamalbari, Tanahun, on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Ajay Thing from Manahari Rural Municipality-6, Makwanpur.
The truck, bearing registration number Na 6 Kha 47, was travelling from Dumre to Damauli when it lost control and overturned on the Prithvi Highway. Thing, who sustained critical injuries, was rushed to the Provincial Hospital in Damauli, where he was declared dead by doctors, according to Tanahun District Police Chief Superintendent of Police Tek Bahadur Karki. The truck’s assistant driver sustained minor injuries to his knee.
Separately, a fire broke out at the Tanahun Hydropower construction site in Jhaputar, Rising Rural Municipality-1, on Sunday. The fire started at around 4 p.m. in a 400 kV generator located at the parking area used by the Sino construction company. A police team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Pitambar Adhikari arrived at the scene, and the fire was brought under control by 4:45 p.m. with the help of local residents. While the generator sustained damage, no other losses were reported. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and police are investigating the incident.
