Two arrested for black marketing LPG cylinders in Bhaktapur

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two individuals in Bhaktapur on charges of black marketing cooking gas cylinders. The arrests were made in Bhaktapur Municipality-2 Itache and Suryabinayak Municipality-3 Brahmanagar, according to Nepal Police.

On Thursday at approximately 5 p.m., police arrested 25-year-old Umesh Shah, the operator of Sarlahi General Store located in Suryabinayak Municipality-3. Shah, a native of Barahathawa Municipality-7 in Sarlahi, was allegedly selling LPG cylinders to consumers at Rs 2,800 per cylinder.

A team from the Crime Investigation Office in Teku, led by Police Inspector Hem Bahadur Thapaliya, conducted the operation following reports of the illicit activity at the grocery store. Separately, another individual was arrested in Bhaktapur Municipality-2 Itache for similar charges of black marketing cooking gas. Police confirmed that further investigations into both cases are currently underway.
